SmartForest
SmartForest conferences create a space to come together and find solutions that will make forestry more digital, innovative, sustainable, and climate adjusted.
SmartForest 2026 will take place on 12 and 13 March 2026 at the Technical University of Munich’s campus in Freising.
Our changing world poses significant challenges to our forests. Challenges we can only solve together.
New technology can aid us: SmartForests are digital, sustainable, and climate adjusted.
They are built into value chains and are managed in an efficient manner, for example through the use of digital twins, machine learning, and other innovations.
To create them, we need both scientists and practitioners.
We need innovations as well as a clear understanding of the challenges we are facing, both now and in the future.
This is SmartForest.

Conference Goals:
- Interdisciplinary Exchange: Connecting practical knowledge and research so we can develop strategies to solve problems together
- Networking: Creating a strong and capable network between science, commerce, politics, administration, and civil society
- Sustainability and Economic Efficiency: Developing approaches to balance the seemingly contradictory needs of nature and business objectives
- Knowledge Transfer: Building the SmartForest using innovations from research projects and start-ups, to solve concrete issues both now and in the future
